Ontario Marks Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025
October 6, 2025
MISSISSAUGA — October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and to equip Ontarians with the knowledge to stay safe online.
Our government is protecting families, municipalities and public sector partners through the Enhancing Digital Security and Trust Act, 2024, which came into effect in January 2025, strengthening cyber protections across hospitals, schools, and children’s aid societies while ensuring faster responses and stronger systems.
Our Cyber Security Operations Centre runs 24/7 to monitor and respond to threats, while the Cyber Security Ontario Learning Portal offers practical tools and training for schools, municipalities, and community organizations.
Each one of us has a role to play in staying safe online. Here’s what you can do:
- Use strong, unique passwords
- Keep software and devices updated
- Be cautious with emails, links, and attachments
- Back up important files regularly
Let’s protect Ontario together: Every Click. Every Time.
