Ontario’s Health Care Wins in 2025

December 15, 2025

Under the leadership of Premier Doug Ford and Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones, we have achieved significant milestones in health care and continue to build on our progress to make it easier for patients and families to connect to more convenient care, close to home.

By supporting the creation or expansion of 130 primary care teams in 2025, hundreds of thousands of people are being connected to vital frontline care – and we are well on our way to connecting everyone in Ontario to publicly funded primary care by 2029.

We are also growing and supporting Ontario’s world-class health-care workforce– such as building up to 17 new and expanded community-based primary care teaching clinics, welcoming the first class of medical students to the new TMU Medical School this year as part of the largest medical school expansion in over a decade and supporting current and future nurses through more education and training, by helping them to upskill in their jobs and expanding their scopes of practice.

Fifty major hospital capital developments are underway across the province. Progress is being made to tackle emergency department wait times. We’ve increased home care and community care services. More Youth Wellness Hubs are opening in local communities, providing wraparound services for young people in a safe and welcoming environment.

As the year draws to a close, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on all that has been achieved.
